Helping Business Grow
Companies can grow by buying existing companies, investing in more efficient technologies, expanding their product range and by implementing better provision of utilities. Companies must decide on whether to diversify to grow, or concentrate on increasing the share of an existing market.
Other options for businesses to grow include franchising, entering into the public sector, investing in staff training, investing in up to date IT technology and joint ventures and partnering.
Grants to help with business growth are available from the DTI and other sources, such as the European Union, Regional Development Agencies, Business Link, local authorities and some charitable organisations.
Another avenue for business growth is innovation but this needs investment and the willingness for companies to take some risks.
